My artistic practice is a natural extension of my love for the outdoors, and the profound awe and joy that I take from natural landscapes. I believe that access to nature, open spaces, clean air, water, and wildlife are basic human needs. Our mental and physical health and well-being depend on these.

In my artwork, I endeavor to recreate beautiful landscapes. My practice is an attempt to understand the current moment, as well as the broader impact of current events. Evidence of environmental destruction and climate change are unfortunately inescapable, and observations of our environment yield constant examples.

Why continue to draw, paint, collage, and depict in so many ways? I am trying to hold on. Those moments of breathless beauty satisfy my profound need for stillness and wonder. I must hold on. I must remember. Some places are so beautiful that I just can’t pull my gaze away. I need to capture the sublime moments of absolute beauty and light, and the peace that comes from open spaces.

Places, light, moments, events, and the clean air and water that support all of these are worth remembering, re-creating, and endeavoring to protect.
